SKB.vc is a passion-driven platform dedicated to strengthening the bridge between Japan and global innovation ecosystems. Co-founded by Tobias Mathiasen and Katalysen Ventures, SKB.vc strives to unlock new opportunities by bringing together daring government leaders, forward-thinking investors, and innovative entrepreneurs.
At SKB.vc, we believe in leading by example, showing the world that one does not need to be Japanese or speak Japanese to unlock fantastic investment opportunities at the intersection of Japan and the World. Our mission is to contribute to the removal of barriers and the creatation of an open, inclusive environment where talent, ideas, and capital can flow freely between Japan and the global community.
Part of this work involves evaluating and, eventually, implementing frameworks that can help channel more resources—capital, experience, and expertise—across the Japan-Global bridge. Our long-term aim is to facilitate the growth of ventures with global aspirations, fostering deeper collaboration and innovation between Japan and international markets.

Founding Partner
Tobias has spent the last 13 years at the intersection of early-stage funding and innovation, as founder, consultant, financier, and most recently as COO at Nordic-Swiss Katalysen Ventures.
Joseph has spent the last 12 years prototyping and bridging Japanese and American early-stage innovation, in both private and public-side roles, for entities including VCs and incubators.
